Euro Activist
Harjinder Singh (Man in Blue)

Harjinder Singh is from the Netherlands and studied at the University of Amsterdam. He has learned much about political activism in Europe through involvement and campaigning on many issues.

At about the age of 50 he decided on a complete change of life, and after meeting some Sikhs in Amsterdam he moved to Amritsar in 1996. In July of that year he took Amrit and was given the name Harjinder Singh. Later he then moved Chandiagarh where he was involved in seva for the Institute of Sikh Studies (IOSS).

Harjinder arrived in Southall in 2000, where he was affectionately known as the ‘Man in Blue’ and has made a telling contribution both to the Sikh community and wider UK public. Harjinder is now based in Belgium supporting the local Gurdwaras and is the Sikh Network’s European lead in building local activist contacts across the continent.
